It's important to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) so that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) can't track what you're doing and report you to the government.
I recommend Mullvad. It's five euros a month, doesn't auto rewnew, and doesn't insist you pay the entire year's five-euros-a-month up front like other VPN providers. It works on up to five devices, and instead of a login and password, you get a chunky account number. Keep that safe! You don't have to give them any other information. If you're committed to secrecy, you can even pay them by mailing an envelop of cash (yes, really). Or just use card, like a normal person.

Your torrent client connects you to all the other evil media-pirating SOBs (sons of... yeah, you know that one) dead set on bankrupting the entertainment industry.
You'll read the phrases "seeders" and "leechers" a lot, so here's a very, very brief explanation.
The way this all works is by accessing your chosen torrent from other people who already have it. These people are seeders. People downloading the torrent are leechers. This is what makes torrenting essentially impossible to prevent. It's not coming from some big database that Micky or Feige can pull the plug on. It's coming from thousands of demonic personal computers all around the world, hidden behind satanic VPNs.
I'd recommend qBitTorrent. Download it, set it up as directed, and then head on over and start downloading all the entertainment you could ever want, for free!
https://www.qbittorrent.org/A very simple but important step. You can set your torrent client to only run through your VPN, so that if the VPN has any hiccups or outages, you won't start downloading without that protection.
On qBitTorrent, all you've got to do is go to settings (hit the big cog), then the advanced tab, and then set your Network interface to "Mullvad". That's it! Done.
Not so fast, criminal scum. There are other baddies out to get you. Protect yourself with uBlock Origin or another ad-blocking browser extension.

That'll detect what torrent client you have and begin downloading it, as long as seeders have made it available (your browser may prompt you to choose your program from a list).
qBitTorrent will (generally) allow you to view the torrent's metadata before downloading, so you can be sure that what you're downloading is the right thing. .txt files or other things may be included that have generic information about the movie or game, but you can deselect them from the download if you're insure.
Don't download anything from IGGGAMES. They've included malware in their uploads in the past, and whilst 1337X is moderated and it's unlikely to happen again, just don't download from them 'cause fuck 'em.

When a file has finished downloading, you'll turn from a leecher to a seeder. qBitTorrent will begin automatically seeding the file for other users.
It's politce practice to seed for other users as much as possible. If you've managed to snag a file from a single seeder, if you both go offline, no one else will be able to download it until you come back. And the more seeders there are, the faster downloads are. So if you can, seed!
